Match report
Bengeo cc returned to winning ways on saturday beating Buntingford in the A10 derby.
Potter who was agonisingly out for 99 and Dellow 53, this enabled bengeo to rack up a monster 276/9 at Buntingford.
After winning the toss, skipper adam choose to bat. Dellow and Seeley opened up. Seeley falling early for 12, this bought in Bateman and he hit some crunching boundries before being well caught at square leg for 15. At this time he and Dellow had pushed the score past 50. Bengeo were 89-2 off 18 overs when Potter walked in at number 4.
Straight after bringing up a fine fifty, Dellow was bowled and next ball Nix was cleaned up too. Leaving bengeo in a mess at 93/4. Potter and Ruskin put on 83 in 13 overs to rescue the situation abit, good signs for bengeo that Ruskin was showing some form, Until he was bowled for 24 to leave Bengeo in a good position at 175/5 after 31 overs. His departure bought in Underdown who hit a textbook 28, including some fantastic shots off his legs. By this time both batsman were crunching the bad balls to all parts as Bengeo passed the 250 mark with 3 overs to spare. Potter in the 'nervous 90's' hit two boundries to reach 99, before cruelly edging a nothing ball behind, leaving him the slow walk of death back to the pavillion, a man who looked heartbroken to say the least!!. The tail wagged to post 276/9 off 45 overs.
After a truly great tea 10/10.
Bengeo's bowlers all helped out in bowling out Buntingford for 130. Dowling bowling quick as he can got the breakthrough, well supported by Nix and Guy. Potter, Bateman and Walker all grabbing two wickets each. The spinners getting through their overs before the rain could call the game off. A fine victory for the Bengeo boys.
