Bengeo Cricket Club Lost lost by 61 runs
Match report
Bengeo c.c suffered a second defeat in 3 games leaving them mid table in hecl div 4. A defeat next week away at Cloghams would all but put them out of the promotion picture!!
On a sunny day, Dowling won the toss and choose to bowl first. A tight spell of bowling by Dowling and M.Walker was rewarded with a run out. Heath Going at 3 an over for the first 15 Bengeo were on top. Then came the change bowling of Guy and Bateman and these two put Bengeo firmly in control with Guys darts causing pressure and wickets started to fall.
Heath found themselves at 100-5 off 26 overs. Then a truly superb catch by Raven, diving full on to his left turned the game in Bengeo's favour. Some lusty late order hitting propelled Heath upto 164 a/o off 40 overs. Dowling finishing the innings off, cleaning up the number 11. After a truly awesome tea in which Potter's diet went out of the window, Bengeo opened up with Dellow and M.Walker.
The Heath bowling attack showed why they bowled out M.Green for under 50 last week. The pace of Reynolds and Hedges was as quick as anything seen in the last few years in div 4. But Walker and Dellow both found some early boundries to get Bengeo off to a flyer.
After 6 overs the first wicket fell on 24 when Walker was bowled by a jaffer, 2 balls later Bateman tried to guide one to third man but was well held high in the slips 24-2. Heath on top and soon Bengeo were 4 down for 30 odd after Ruskin and C.Walker both went,in the same over. In came Potter and after taking a short while in getting use to the pace, he and Dellow started pulling the game back in favour of the hosts with a fine partnership off 50+. Until Potter went back and left a straight one, much to the delight of the spinner who well and truly thought he had one the world cup with his celebration!! After this Dellow was caught at mid on and the tail brieffly waged to get Bengeo a batting point. 103-10.
A much better performance from Bengeo this week, bowling and fielding was fantastic all day and with more players, inparticulary batsman returning to the side in the coming weeks we need to put a winning run together to push up into that second place. Chadwell Heath will surely be champions and it was no disapointment losing to a side that good.
